95.9 FM

95.9 FM is a radio station that Spirit and Truth established in Oneonta, NY back in the early 2000s.

If you listen to this station, you will hear anything from country to hip-hop and rap, worship to rock-n-roll. This station covers 5 decades of Christian music as well as:

Anointed preaching recorded from Sunday morning services at Spirit and Truth,
Energizing mini sermons and gospel proclamations,
Short and sweet inspirational and biblically educational broadcasts,
Bilingual Spanish/English messages with a couple Spanish songs every night at 8pm,
As well as advertisements for the church, inviting the community to become a part of our family.

Oneonta's Connection to Great Christian Radio Programming

95.9 fm history

In the early 2000s, Spirit and Truth member Jeff Mein came to Pastor Mitch Spring and told him that the government was going to be making available some low-power radio stations in Oneonta and that they should take advantage of it and put in an application. And that’s what they did!

They didn’t hear back from the government until 3 to 4 years later. Wow! 7 people (or organizations) applied for a low-power station in the area and only 2 got it- Spirit and Truth and one of the colleges.

This station was first set up in a garage in downtown Oneonta. The transmitter used to be in a refrigerator and the antenna was on the garage roof. In order to figure out how to have the best reception, Pastor Mitch would drive around town listening to the station and Jeff Mein would tweak things according to what Pastor observed.

At one point, they decided to move the station to another location. By law it had to be within 5 miles of where it originally was. The move didn’t result in transporting the station to somewhere of great beauty but to another humble garage.

Things changed though some time down the road when someone tragically had a heart attack in the parking lot of a nearby business and died while driving, sending their car into the station's radio tower and breaking it. So, a new tower had to be put in place, and in the process of redoing the building on the property which was damaged as well, the radio station got a serious remodel and now is what it is today.

A huge nationwide Christian Radio Station called “K-love” wanted to join forces with us and broadcast their music and other things through our station while still keeping it semi-unique and remaining something that advertised the church and what not, but “Jeff said, “No, keep it hokey, keep it local.” He wanted us to have creative control and also to keep it as personal as possible by keeping it local!

So that’s what we did.

We’re so blessed to have this radio station still living and still thriving today. God has used it for incredible things!

testimony of how god used 95.9 fm in my life

Greetings! My name is Sam Judd. I am an associate pastor at Spirit and Truth Ministries.

This station played a role in my salvation, in restoring my family, in connecting me to the woman I would marry, in helping me finish out my college career, and much more. How did it do that?

By the Spirit of the Lord, 95.9 FM blasting through my dad’s vehicle’s speakers is what brought my parents to Spirit and Truth, and it was my parents who brought me here as a young person in my early 20’s, still lost, but making my way towards the cross of Jesus Christ and the new life that followed!

It is incredible that God used this radio station to be one more piece of the puzzle in the salvation of my soul and all of the extraordinary blessings that a relationship with Jesus Christ brings. This station is also what brought Pastor William Vega to Spirit and Truth, who began the Spanish church that is held here. God is good!
